A group of 20 young students from Serbia with background in law and political sciences will visit Kosovo in period between January 28th and 31st. This visit will be organized in the scope of the Regional Youth Exchange Program of the Youth Initiative for Human Rights (YIHR) through wich young people are given chance to visit countries in the region for the first time. All meetings during this visit will be focused on the forthcoming new round of the Brussels Negotiations that will start in the beginning of February.

During their stay in Kosovo students from Serbia will have a chance to meet representatives of Kosovo Government including representatives of Serbian community in Government, Parliamentarian parties such as Vetëvendosje and LDK, local authorities in Prishtina Municipality, as well as BIRN and Humanitarian Law Center Kosovo. Group will also pay a visit to Gracanica and Mitrovica where they will learn about life on local level through discussion with young activists. Prior to visit to Kosovo, group will have chance to meet the representatives of local government and Albanian National Council in Serbia in municipalities of Preshevo and Bujanovac.

  • Debate: Face the Reality Through Facing Each Other

On Friday, January 30th YIHR will organize debate “Face the Reality Through Facing Each Other” that will start at 6.30 p.m. at the Dit’eNat.  Participants in this debate will be young people from Kosovo and Serbia who had chance to take part in some of exchange programs in Belgrade or Prishtina. They will speak about the importance of personal contacts and learning through first-hand experience for breaking existing prejudice. This discussion will be held in the light of the YIHR efforts for the institutionalization of the youth exchanges on the regional level that should cover the territories of former  Yugoslavia and Albania. In last six months there was developed discussion at the governmental level among countries in the region for establishment of official channels of communication for young generations. Debate will be held in English.
