Youth Initiative for Human Rights, Civic Initiatives, Integra NGO and Human Rights Education Youth Network (HREYN) are calling young artists from Kosovo and Serbia to apply for participation in creating collaborative artistic pieces that would contribute to cross border cooperation and cultural exchange of the two societies. The program will gather 18 young artists (nine from Serbia and nine from Kosovo) interested in the relations of Kosovo and Serbia that are willing to collaborate and critically observe the contemporary context.

The theme for the collective and collaborative piece is peace and reconciliation, and preserving and celebrating common cultural heritage of two societies. The question that should be addressed with the final product is “What did we inherit?” The artists will define the medium by themselves, and they will have freedom to define their own approach and topic within this framework.

The opportunity to collaborate will be crystalized at the five days residential meeting in Belgrade, that will take place from April 4th to 9th, 2024. Selected artists will have the opportunity to discuss and define their ideas with the support of experienced mentor and facilitator.

Being a youth organization, we want to give the opportunity to young artists to share their visions on the progress made between Serbia and Kosovo, and how they see the future between two neighbors whose recent history and current political situation are making it difficult for young people to live, work and coexist together.

The young artists from Kosovo and Serbia will be joined by two colleagues from Italy and Georgia so they can discuss their views of Kosovo Serbia relations and think about their perspective as peers when working on final ideas.

Final product will be presented to the public in Belgrade in Endzio Hub, a space in the city center, in June/July 2024.

Participants are expected to be present all five days of the residential meeting in Belgrade, and to take active part in developing the idea and producing the final products. Also, participants should take part in online consultative sessions after the meeting if necessary. The working language of the program is English.

Travel costs, food and accommodation during the residential meeting in Belgrade will be fully covered by the organizers. The organizers will also provide a budget for production of the collaborative piece for the exhibition.
