Report “Dossier Croatia II: Expulsion, targeting and other examples of human rights violations of Croatian citizens in Serbia”

The YIHR report is based on interviews with individual Croatian citizens whose residence permits were revoked by the MUP, citizens of Serbia of Croatian nationality, and citizens who were called Ustashas by the media and politicians. A special part of the report consists of an analysis of the content of media close to the regime, as well as an analysis of media appearances and speeches of the highest representatives of the government of Serbia related to the current political crisis and the alleged participation of the “Ustasha” in it.

The findings show that the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia, the Criminal Code, the Law on Prohibition of Discrimination, the Law on Police, the Law on Foreigners and other relevant regulations have been grossly violated by the actions of the institutions and the media, while the rights to work, privacy, freedom, security and freedom of expression are threatened for the affected persons. The report also points to the intensification of hate speech and misuse of the term “Ustasha” in public space, which encourages discrimination, dehumanization of political dissenters and further deepens social divisions.
