Empowered Youth: Prishtina Study Visit

Eighteen young people from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo visited Pristina for the first time as part of the Study Visit to Pristina, which was part of Mirëdita, dobar dan! festival from May 4 to 6. During the three-day exchange, students had the opportunity to meet human rights and peace activists, as well as representatives of Kosovo institutions, and discuss minority rights in Kosovo, linguistic segregation, war crimes in Kosovo, as well as about the importance of memorialization.

The tenth edition of the “Mirëdita, dobar dan!” festival ended last night in Pristina, with the presentation of the award to Bekim Blakaj, the executive director of the Humanitarian Law Center Kosovo, and the theater performance “Would be a shame if the plants died”.

YIHR Serbia demands the dismissal of the Minister of Education Branko Ruzic!

The Youth Initiative for Human Rights – Serbia (YIHR Serbia) demands the immediate dismissal of the Minister of Education, Branko Ruzic, due to the political instrumentalization of the tragedy at Elementary School “Vladislav Ribnikar”. We also call for accountability of Veselin Milic, the chief of the Belgrade police, for publicizing the list of names of the minor victims and mentioning the juvenile offender’s name. The legality of disclosing this information must be reviewed by the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Protection of Personal Data, the Ombudsman of Serbia, the Internal Control Sector of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Prosecutor office.
