Mila Pajić and Doroteja Antić, activists from the group “Stav” and employees of the Youth Initiative for Human Rights, were detained this evening in Novi Sad while en route to the Varadin Bridge, where a protest blockade began at 6 p.m. in response to the impunity of those responsible for the tragedy that occurred in the city on November 1st.
We call on the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia and the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Novi Sad to immediately release the activists and to cease the abuse of pretrial detention without legal grounds, which aims to intimidate citizens and deter them from exercising their rights to freedom of expression and assembly.

We still don’t have information on the whereabouts of detained activists Mila and Doroteja. Given that Prime Minister Vučević has commended the police’s actions tonight in Novi Sad, and that there is no official information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prime Minister is responsible for the safety of the detained activists and is obligated to disclose their location.
