The Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Croatia and the Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Serbia believe that the authorities in both countries have used the 30th anniversary of Operation Storm to, each in their own way, demonstrate chauvinism and a complete abandonment of responsibility toward the victims.

The public was informed about the meeting through the embassy’s and the ambassador’s accounts on Instagram and X, stating that the conversation was “cordial and open,” and that “the traditionally friendly relations between Serbia and Israel were confirmed, as well as mutual commitment to their further strengthening in the political, economic, and security spheres.”
MoreOn April 4, 2025, United Nations Committee on Enforced Disappearances (CED) published a report on Serbia with recommendations, including a series from the Youth Initiative for Human Rights (YIHR), sent to the Committee on March 12 this year. Among the recommendations of the CED for the authorities in Serbia are the implementation of the UN General Assembly Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica and the change of legislation in order to sanction the denial of war crimes and the glorfication of war criminals.
MoreThe Youth Initiative for Human Rights (YIHR) is calling on the Cultural Institution Ćuprija to annul the competition and the decision regarding the selected design for the mural in the center of Ćuprija in Serbia, dedicated to Nebojša Pavković, a convicted for war crimes in Kosovo. Due to the responsibility for publishing the competition, we also demand the dismissal of Stefan Stamenković, the director of this institution. The competition for a mural dedicated to Pavković represents an institutionalized practice of denying the war crimes for which he was convicted.
