Twenty young activists in the field of transitional justice gathered in Vršac, Serbia from five post-conflict countries in the region - Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Montenegro to share experiences, network and discuss - but most importantly to continue to learn new skills and gather knowledge.
The Youth Initiative for Human Rights Serbia (YIHR Serbia) and the Youth Initiative for Human Rights Kosovo (YIHR Kosovo) demand from the negotiating teams of Belgrade and Pristina to publish a document in Serbian and Albanian on the exchange and / or opening of secret archives as soon as possible. And above all, the families of the missing need to be informed about further steps in the search for missing persons.
Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Kosovo (YIHR Kosovo) and Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Serbia (YIHR Serbia) condemn the statements by Veljko Odalović, Secretary General of the National Assembly of Serbia and President of the Commission on Missing Persons and Vladimir Lazarević, convict of war crimes in Kosovo at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.
On the International Youth Day, we are warning that young people are paying the highest price of the war-mongering politics; there is great danger that such price will be much higher if Serbia continues to rush into authoritarianism, aggressive nationalism and conflict with everybody in the region.
