This year’s Academy will take place in Belgrade from September 2nd to 7th, during Pride Week, and will bring together young leaders from Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
What to Expect?
Participants will attend sessions led by regional and international experts on topics such as:
- The role of LGBTQI+ activism in anti-war and peace movements
- Legal advocacy and working with institutions on law implementation and policy change
- Queer art and activism
- Shared struggles and challenges of the LGBTQI+ community across the Balkans
- And much more!
In addition to the educational program, participants will actively engage in Pride Week events – including panel discussions, exhibitions, artistic performances, and banner-making sessions – as either contributors or guests.
The Academy concludes with the Belgrade Pride March on September 6th, where participants will have the opportunity to join the protest walk or even take part in its organization and implementation.
Who Can Apply?
We invite young LGBTQI+ activists aged 18 to 30 from the Western Balkans who:
- Have previous experience in promoting equality and inclusion for the LGBTQI+ community
- Are motivated to gain deeper knowledge and practical skills
- Want to share common challenges and learn from peers across the region
All expenses are covered – including accommodation, travel, and meals.
