{"id":14547,"date":"2023-06-27T15:28:49","date_gmt":"2023-06-27T14:28:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/yihr.rs\/?p=14547"},"modified":"2023-06-27T15:28:49","modified_gmt":"2023-06-27T14:28:49","slug":"the-charter-given-to-lazarevic-is-another-state-of-serbia-award-for-war-crimes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/yihr.rs\/en\/the-charter-given-to-lazarevic-is-another-state-of-serbia-award-for-war-crimes\/","title":{"rendered":"The Charter Given to Lazarevi\u0107 is Another State of Serbia Award for War Crimes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Toplica district awards charters to respective individuals and institutions within the \u201cSvetopli\u010dki Vidovdanski sabor\u201d, which is held on June 28th in the court of the monastery of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel, in Kond\u017eelj near Prokuplje.<\/p>\n<p>The practice of Serbian state institutions to decorate convicted war criminals, including this year\u2019s \u201cCar Lazar\u201d charter, is alarming. We see this decision as support of violence and politics of crime. Fighting against violence in Serbia includes the respect for human life and taking responsibility for crimes committed, especially when state institutions committed war crimes. By state recognition of a war criminal, the government of Serbia is humiliating Kosovo victim&#8217;s families, many of which still haven\u2019t found the remains of their loved ones.<\/p>\n<p>After getting out of prison in 2015, ministers of the Serbian government welcomed Lazarevi\u0107 at the airport in Ni\u0161, whereby the former Minister of Justice, today the Minister of Labor, Nikola Selakovi\u0107, stated that Lazarevi\u0107 was a &#8220;role model for young people&#8221;. The Toplica district has announced the June 28th charter awarding Lazarevi\u0107 with an almost identical statement as one of Minister Selakovi\u0107, pointing out that he \u201csets an example to younger generations of how to fight and defend their country\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Like another war criminal Neboj\u0161a Pavkovi\u0107, Lazarevi\u0107 authored a book within the \u201cWarrior\u201d edition published by the Ministry of Defence, Government of Serbia, in 2018. In August of 2021, the Ni\u0161 municipality Pantelej declared Lazarevi\u0107 an honorary citizen. The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107, in a parliamentary debate on February 2nd of this year, called Lazarevi\u0107 \u201ca great Serbian hero\u201d.
