{"id":10384,"date":"2021-01-21T19:28:04","date_gmt":"2021-01-21T18:28:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/yihr.rs\/?p=10384"},"modified":"2021-01-21T19:28:03","modified_gmt":"2021-01-21T18:28:03","slug":"in-solidarity-with-women-who-have-survived-sexual-violence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/yihr.rs\/en\/in-solidarity-with-women-who-have-survived-sexual-violence\/","title":{"rendered":"In solidarity with women who have survived sexual violence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 2018 Autonomous Women\u2019s Center (AWC) <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenngo.org.rs\/images\/publikacije-nasilje\/Percepcija_i_iskustvo_mladih_u_vezi_sa_seksualnim_uznemiravanjem_2018.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">research<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on the experiences and perceptions of youth on sexual harassment, shows data that every third young woman in Serbia has experienced unwanted physical contact, and that 80% of young women have experienced some form of sexual harassment. The issue of sexual violence is systemic &#8211; not a rare, individual occurrence.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We call on all state institutions, particularly educational ones, as well as the Prosecutor\u2019s office and the relevant courts, to address this case responsibly and professionally, and we call on the media to respect the dignity and privacy of each victim in their coverage, steering clear of sensationalism and relativism which is retraumatizing for victims.
